Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best camera to use?

Really depends on what you're looking to film but in short, the best camera is the one you have access to.

A camera is just a tool. Story and execution is what matters most.

What advice would you give an aspiring filmmaker?

Don’t worry about equipment, write around what you have access to and start filming. Can’t find actors? Use people you know. Watch Film Riot on YouTube.

How willing are you to work with first time cast and/or crew?

We are open to working with newcomers who are passionate and dedicated to their craft, and we can provide guidance and support throughout the process. We are also more than willing to allow first-timers to work on our projects so that they can get footage and work for their reels. We are all about expanding the smaller brands who make films for passion instead of a box office and a payday.

Do you have any aspirations for Hollywood films?

While our focus is on independent horror filmmaking, we are open to collaborating on projects that align with our vision and values. But the projects would have to be passion projects. Smaller films left outside of the major studios.

Is there anyone you would like to collaborate with who isn't in the industry?

Yes. I have always been fascinated by true crime stories. In A Fetish of Flesh the is a character named Serenity. Her upbringing and traumatic past led her to become an adopted member of the family. For her, I used a lot from the criminology of a lot of people I have researched. And while most are open books, I would love the opportunity to sit down and speak with Charlie Ely. In case you don't know, Charley is one of five people who was convicted of murdering a 15-year-old boy in 2011. She was sentenced to life in prison. But in 2020 she was freed from prison. While I do not support or oppose any part of that court decision, the fact is that she would make for an interesting study, whether she was guilty or not. I am not a judge and I understand that everyone has a past. But the past is not what is right now. I just believe Charlie would be a great basis and collaborator.

Advantages of Practical Effects and Compelling Storytelling in Horror Filmmaking

Practical effects give a less computerized feel to effects, as the gore is physically present on set, providing great reactions by the cast. Compelling storytelling in horror films is essential to engage the audience and create a lasting impact.

Collaborating with Demented Media for Screenwriting and Original Screenplays

While collaborators are many, Demented Media not only collaborates but also offers a cost-effective means for low-budget productions to get produced and distributed much easier than it normally would be.
